I have dry skin and it seems to have gotten drier since moving out West. I've gone to the doctor and she recommended different kinds of lotions all of which turned out to be pricey and not always easy to get. I started reading things about skin dryness and how to deal with it when I came across olive oil and grape seed oil. I tried the olive oil first. I used it for about a year. It's a little thick and even with the essential oil I added to it to make it smell pretty,I was left smelling slightly olivey. My daughter said I smelled like Italian food.
I decided to try out the grape seed oil. I thought it might not be so bad to smell like a grape. First of all,the grape seed oil I bought has no scent. But that is okay with me. I can always add lavender or rose oil later. Second, grape seed oil is much thinner than olive oil. I still have that oily feeling on my skin after I put it on but it's much less than the olive oil. I put it on before bed and wake up with soft smooth skin!
Another use I found for it is taking off my eye make-up. For years,I used baby oil which burns my eyes. Here recently,I was getting low on the baby oil so,I decided to try out the grape seed oil. Guess what, guys? No sting! Yay! I will never use baby oil to remove my eye make-up again.
A great thing about grape seed oil is it is a whole food. If you look at the back of the bottle it has one ingredient:grape seed oil. If you look at the back of the bottle of your average lotion you will most likely see a lot more than one ingredient. In fact, you will probably see a lot of ingredients that you may find difficult to pronounce. I don't know about you,but it makes me feel really good to put something on my skin that I know what it is and I can instantly see good effects from it.
Since starting on the grape seed oil my skin is a whole lot softer. I can get it at the grocery store at nearly half the price it cost me to buy lotion. I don't think I would ever go back to using lotion again.
